To Andrew Podner. Questions from a member

These are questions to the new VATUSA DD, Andrew Podner by a commenter in the blog. Legitimate questions, I believe. Answer should you so choose. I'll post the question, and then the opinion associated with it.

1. Fair and equitable treatment? How? Tell us Andrew.

Tell us how no one has gotten fair and equatable treatment? Your past speaks volumes of how things will go. You look out for yourself. Your backstabbing is known. Now it is on the national level. Your history of telling people what they want to hear is going to catch up with you quickly. You talk out of both sides of your mouth. Even the "good ole boys" who are there at the national level will soon start seeing it. They may be blind right now but what goes around comes around. Now it will be YOU Andrew who is the topic of discussion when you are not around.

2. Maximize staffing? HOW in the world are YOU going to accomplish this?

You did not do it at ZME and you expect everyone to believe you will do it on the national level? More smoke and mirrors Andrew. How are you going to assure there are instructors and mentors at the ARTCC's?? Qualified Staff? First you must be qualified yourself Andrew. Some say you have done a great job with the website. While I do acknowledge when it "crashed" you worked hard to get things back, that is just about it. The site is bland. Robert Prescott has given you the ideas that are there.

3. Increase traffic? How Andrew? Be specific. With the attitudes of some of those, including ZLA, tell us how. Tell us how YOU personally are going to increase anything?

4. This one you will excel in. You can pass the buck and blame the BoG for everything. This won't fly after it becomes obvious that the BoG is not responsible for everything.

(Not sure what the question is in #4) Care to clarify?

  1. Andrew,

How do you intend to ensure fair treatment when you are now trying to micromanage VATUSA and you are quietly removing the authority of the staff. ZMA isn't even being allowed to plan and coordinate THEIR event. VATUSA is coming in a making demands on how they must operate. After speaking with Alex he wasn't going to allow this, why the sudden change now that he has stepped down? If you're going to have all of these staff members, let them do their job. This isn't your personal playground.

  2. Suprised? No one should be. If ANY checking had been done as to what he did at ZME, he would never had gotten the position. Besides what you mentioned, when (and it has already started) everyone heres everything they want to hear and things are totally different behind their backs, it does not take long for eyes to open. He is not one to let the staff do their jobs. Why? Because in his feeble mind, no one can do anything better than he can. HE IS THE BEST and KNOWS it ALL. In his post he said he was going get qualified controllers. HOW is he going to do that? By dramatically cutting back on the training for the ARTCC's like he did at ZME? Wonder if Mr. Hodge will like that? Wonder how the FAA's proving grounds at ZLA will see that? Course, Andrew is already dazzling them at ZLA. He states that their being "ultra realistic" is okay due to their traffic. BUT the some other ARTCC's are too realistic. Hmmmm? Can you say talking out of both sides of his mouth? The honeymoon is already over for Andrew. The behind the back talk is already in full force both on the VATUSA Teamspeak and the ARTCC's. Once he completely drives everyone NUTS with his obession with statistics (who do you think helped Mike Hodges with his monthly report) Everything else will start becoming evident.

Bo, the 4th point was not meant as a question but a statement of fact (not opinion). Based on his past and that is all one can go on. At ZFW and then ATM at ZME that is what he did. Ask them. IF they are honest they will sight examples. Also, you will find with him "if it ain't in writing it didn't happen" is 100 percent accurate. IF anyone wants ANYTHING from him GET it in writing. Talking to him on teamspeak will not accomplish anything because he just says it for your ears. Been there and seen it and got the Tee Shirt to prove it!

  3. The "Teamspeak is always open" from VATUSA in this and the past administration only has one purpose. To not be in writing.

  4. Yeah the TS is open alright. To selected individuals. It is already back to the "good old boys club".
If the only purpose of the VATUSA staff is not to be in writing, they sure don't have much of a "game plan". Besides, with what is happening in ZMA and will in the near future, especially as the rest of VATUSA, including the VATUSA Staff members start opening their eyes, what you are seeing in print won't be on a blog, it will be on the VATSIM/VATUSA forums and in the petition for recall that will soon come.

  5. Teamspeak is a convient tool to tell people what they want to hear and get them to shut up for a while, and that is it.

  7. Of course, comments must be approved before being posted, so much for the freedom of speech!

  8. It is clear many would rather complain then work to make a diffrence. when your ready to step up and make a change in VATSIM do so, until then continue to whine and cry it is falling on these deaf ears.
